Dont Let Fear Take You Down

You know, in my early 20’s I noticed I had a lump in my breast. I, my family, and my doctor would not have been much worried as less than 5 percent of all breast cancers occur in women under age 40. However, as a young woman with a history of breast cancer and other cancers on both sides of the family, this was not to be taken lightly. So I was under ultrasounds and mammograms until I was about 28. Now I’m tested just once every five years until the age of 40.

I understand some women are concerned with insurance bills and copayments, but cancer is real. It can be beaten if detected early. And, it’s not just women that should be concerned with cancers. Men are subject to a variety of cancers as well. In fact, men have a 43.31% chance of developing cancer while women have a 37.81% chance, according to statistical data found on the US National Cancer Institute’s Surveillance Epidemiology and End Results (SEER) Database.

If you have a history of cancer in your family, I urge you to get tested. If not, at least run a blood test on your own with the help of Personalabs. Personalabs is a safe and private facility of which you have access to over 300 tests. You sign up and order them online and step into one of their professional LabCorp labs across the United States. In as few as three business days, you’ll have access to your confidential test results online as an easy-to-read PDF. A few of their most popular tests available include:

What makes this a great alternative to going to the doctor is that you can save money and time. These are the same tests that your doctor would order at their laboratory. You don’t have to pay for the visit to your doctor, and you don’t need to wait for your insurance carrier to approve it.

Don’t let financial fear or embarrassment stop you from getting the appropriate medical screening you need. Visit Personalabs.com today and put your best foot forward to taking care of your health.

I know this is probably ignorance talking but sometimes even thinking about it is so scary i know early detection is always the best key but does not stop the fear taking over and i think for some its the fear that kills before the disease but i love the idea of using personalabs to test the blood.

Thank you for an informative and very thoughtful post. It is true…one should not let financial concerns or personal embarrassment deter from getting checked. Early detection is key in getting back to the healthy path. Thank you so much sharing this!

I could not love this post anymore than I do! As someone who has lost family members and very close friends to cancer, I can’t ever stress enough how important it is to get tested and do your routinely exams. One of my father’s best friends was recently diagnosed with stage 4 prostate cancer, it’s so bad there was nothing that can be done. If he had only gone for his year prostate exam like he was supposed to, he might have caught it a lot earlier and be alive today.

So glad your lump ended up not being cancerous. Being proactive in your health is well worth any copay costs in my opinion especially with serious problems that can be helped if caught early. This is a great list of screenings to have done.

I’ve never heard of PersonalLabs before, but I’m def going to bookmark it and check it out. Gonna give it to my parents as well. They have been keeping the hospital in business with all the things that have been going on with them. Breast Cancer doesn’t run in my family, but it did in my ex-husband’s family. Actually all of the cancers did, like everyone has/had it at one point, it was kinda crazy. This is a great awareness post.

I think it’s so important for men and women to check themselves for lumps regularly and visit their doctor as soon as anything is found. My family and I don’t have any health insurance at the moment but funnily enough my other half and I were talking about it just the other day and how we should get some now because we have a son. Thank you for sharing this post, I must bring up the subject again.

I agree – being proactive is worth the expense! Both my mom and my mother in law have been in treatment for breast cancer. Both early detection because they and their doctors were proactive. I was considering testing like this for the breast cancer marker so that I can be more informed given my mother’s cancer. So happy your lump was not cancerous. Our health is all that we really have.
