4 Pages Every Blogger Needs
Disclosure of Material Connection: Some of the links in the post above are "affiliate links." This means if you click on the link and purchase the item, I will receive an affiliate commission. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will add value to my readers. I am disclosing this in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission's 16 CFR, Part 255: "Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising."
It’s exciting to think, WOW, I’m a blogger! You can be a part-time or full-time blogger. Perhaps your blog started as a way to keep track of your thoughts, you want to make a difference in your neighborhood, or you are ready to turn your passion and hobby into a lucrative income. Whatever the reason may be, just about any blog can generate revenue. However, you do need a few tools in place to do so.
A Disclosure Page
You never really stop and think how many variations of the alphabet can impact your life. There is the:
- IRS
- FDA
- DnB
However, to bloggers we look at the three letters, the FTC – the Federal Trade Commission. Particularly, bloggers should be concerned with their 16 CFR, Part 255: “Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising.” We have to disclose EVERYTHING. Your audience needs to know if you have affiliate links, are promoting a product, and if you’re being paid for that endorsement. So it’s wise to have this disclosure page set up and link to it immediately in addition to having a disclosure statement on each blog post you create. You can check out my Disclosure Policy.
An About Me Page
While it’s not mandatory to have, an About Me page is nice to have so your readers can get an initial feel of who you are and what your blog is about. When I originally started ISDiva, I had a million ideas in my head of how this blog should be structured. Over time, those ideas changed and still are changing. Thank goodness I didn’t title it as “Taya’s Reviews” because this blog is so much more. Here is my about me page.
A Contact Us Page
The Contact Us page is so sponsors or your readers can get in contact with you via:
- Any other social media accounts
It’s a simple and organized way they can reach out to you. When setting this page up, you can include anything you want, including the reason for their inquiry. Check out my contact page.
A Media Kit
Seven months into operating ISDiva, and can you believe I don’t have a media kit? It’s more so just taking the time to sit down and put it together. However, I recently had the awesome opportunity to review the Hip Media Kit Templates.
These are professional, cost effective, and easy to edit media templates. You are very familiar with what a resume is I suppose, so a media kit is a bloggers resume of what they’ve accomplished and a bit about them. There are 5 Hip Media Kit Templates to choose from:
- Moon Media Kit Template
- Elle Media Kit Template
- Lax Media Kit Template
- Tami Media Kit Template
- Turner Media Kit Template
Check out my Cute Media Kit design from the Tami Media Kit Template.
At only $24.99 each, you can’t go wrong. You can even order the bulk Hip Media Kit Template, which is currently on sale for only $87.46.
What I liked so much about these templates is it takes the thought process out of it for you! Simply choose the design you like, right click to insert your pictures, and change up your social media and Google Analytic numbers. Then, fill in the information about yourself and brands you’ve represented. How easy is that to brag about your blog?!
Which of these pages does your blog lack? Are you up for the challenge to create one this week?
Great post. Many bloggers are unaware that in addition to disclosing on the blog post they have to have a disclosure page.
